An Idea to chew on, designing a permaculture system or a regenerative system with complexity designed in it from the beginning of the design, complexity could be or may be forced. If forced, then the design might has issues down the road when it is in reality of the environment  and off the paper.

Regenerative permaculture design can be in an all out design assault in a day, week or a month. As designers, we can look at maps, sun angles, soil types, shape of the land, energy flows and resources available. Have a walk around the property and have a talk about what you or what the client wants. Then sit down and design to system in a few days to a few weeks.

Maybe, just maybe¬† the design can be looked at like a crock pot, it will have a better chance to reach its true potential. A crock pot, takes simple ingredients, cooks slow and steady and the complexity builds over time in flavor. I think design can also be like a good personal relationship, it gets better over time because each in the relationship learns each other more deeply and can read and understand each other better. I’m just not sure how a design that is made into master plan from a short time relationship and time period with the land can see all the opportunity that will expose itself over time.

I’m not saying one way of design is better than the other, just thinking out loud and what I see from my own permaculture journey.
